Everything has a story. And every good idea happens by chance.

It’s 1970 in Brooklyn, New York where Viola Chip began as no more than a couple of images and words on a poster board.

The story began as

anti-Vietnam War posters, which soon became anti-war t-shirts - born out of necessity (but mostly because Brooklyn College couldn’t support the student revolution with supplies any longer). The idea came from a couple of friends hanging out in Marine Park.

VIOLA CHIP

turned nothing into something. From hustling handmade, screen-printed tees for a movement, into a full-blown production with a factory in Yonkers, a knitting mill in Pennsylvania, and retailers across New York. And just like anything else, it eventually came to an end.

That's where we come in.

As distant relatives of its pioneers, we heard stories of Viola Chip as this rogue business happening out of a basement in somewhere-Brooklyn. And so, as lovers and fighters, we decided to pick it up where it left off. Continuing to tell a story, standing behind something, or many things, and becoming part of a conversation.
